What is sound isolation clip?

Publish Time: 2020-12-23     Origin: Site

For architects, builders, homeowners, and apartment residents, harmful sounds or noises are increasingly a cause of concern. Footsteps, voices, sound systems, water pipes, closing doors, and many other sounds passing through walls and ceilings can all generate noise in buildings.

Soundproof clips (also called sound insulation clips or sound insulation clips) are used as a way to disconnect wall systems in sound insulation walls and ceiling assemblies for buildings or rooms that require a high level of noise reduction or sound insulation. The purpose of the rubber in the elastic mounting frame is to eliminate the sound transmitted from the plasterboard to the steel nails and to the other side.

The following knowledge points are listed below:

What is soundproofing?

Principles of sound isolation clips

Advantages of rubber sound isolation clips

(1)    What is sound proofing?

Sound insulation is any method of reducing the sound pressure relative to a designated sound source and receiver. There are several basic ways to reduce sound: increase the distance between the source and receiver, use noise barriers to reflect or absorb the energy of sound waves, use damping structures such as acoustic baffles, or use active anti-noise sound generators.

There are 5 elements in noise reduction (absorption, damping, decoupling, distance and additional mass). The "absorption" aspect of sound insulation should not be confused with sound-absorbing panels used for acoustic treatment. In this sense, "absorption" simply refers to reducing the resonance frequency in the cavity by installing insulating materials between walls, ceilings or floors. Only behind the sound insulation wall or ceiling, the sound insulation board can play a role in the treatment, thereby reducing the amplified reflection in the source room.

When designing an acoustic treatment, two different sound insulation issues may need to be considered-improving the sound in the room (see reverberation) and reducing the sound entering/exiting adjacent rooms or outdoors (see sound insulation level and noise reduction index). Sound insulation and noise control can be used to limit unnecessary noise. Sound insulation can suppress harmful indirect sound waves, such as reflections that cause echoes and resonances that cause reverberation. Sound insulation can reduce harmful direct sound wave transmission from the sound source to involuntary listeners by using distance and intervening objects in the sound path.

(2)    Principle of sound isolation clips

Decoupling: The principle of sound isolation clips is to create a separation between the sound source and any form of adjacent mass, thereby obstructing the direct path of sound transmission.

Decoupling the wall requires the use of elastic isolation clips or sound insulation mats. When installing, the sound isolation clips should be staggered (every other stud) to reduce the path of sound transmission. The elastic isolation channel can be easily inserted into the elastic clamp to form a 1 5/8inch gap between the stud and the dry wall. Use fine-threaded screws to screw the dry wall into the elastic channel. The length of the screw should be correct, so as not to pierce the stud, otherwise it will affect the efficiency of the decoupling wall.

(3)    Advantages of rubber sound isolation clip

Rubber sound insulation clips are used in this process to create a "floating wall or ceiling", where the wall or ceiling is decoupled to create elasticity and break the sound waves. The unique sound chamber design of the clip prevents the vibration transmitted by the structure from being transmitted to the main body of the clip, and only leaves a small contact surface area between the soundproof clip and the structure or substrate fixed to it. This helps to absorb and decompose airborne sound at the point of propagation. In addition, our rubber has passed the fire test and is very safe.

The clip can be applied to any substrate using screws or masonry anchors. The purpose of the shock absorption clip is to fix the branch channel with one or more layers of gypsum wallboard. The load capacity of the clip depends on the specifications and can be used for wood and steel.

It is very suitable for use in apartments and other sound control applications. It can be used for acoustic applications for sound insulation ratings of ceilings and walls in many fires. (For acoustic and fire rating test results, please refer to our product data label).
