GOFAI Sound Isolation Clips
Gofai sound islation clip is designed to reduce sound transmissions from both airborne and impact noise in wood, steel or concrete construction for both interior walls and ceilings. The Gofai sound islation clip system is used to attach gypsum wall board (GWB) for walls and ceilings that allows the GWB to float and absorb energy due to the resilient rubber isolators, causing an increase in the acoustic performance for both STC (airborne) and IIC (impact) ratings. Each Clip has a design load rating of 36 lbs. per isolator, the Clip can support up to two layers of 5/8" gypsum board when spaced no more than 24" x 48" on-center.
Gofai Sound isolation clips are designed to allow a decoupling separation between the walls and ceiling from the underlying framing studs and joists. When utilizing sound isolation clips for drywall installation, the drywall furring channels (AKA “hat” channels) are attached to the clips and the clips are then fastened to the studs or joists, following the supplied instructions. Once installed, the drywall (or other wall material) is isolated from the framing. This significantly lowers the ability for sound, especially low frequency sound, from transmitting into the room where they're installed.
Sound isolation clips are an engineered, acoustic resilient mounting bracket for furring channels, for reducing airborne vibration and structure-borne vibration in wall and ceiling applications. Sound isolation clips' thermoplastic rubber outperforms standard rubber because of its unique natural absorbing characteristics. Its unique sound cell design guards against structure borne vibrations transferring into the body of it because of its strong column design providing a small percentage of contact surface area with the structure or substrate it is fastened to. This aids in absorbing and breaking up airborne sound at its transfer point.
Sound Isolation Clips are used to soundproof walls in ceilings by decoupling one side of the structure from the other. This allows each side to vibrate independently and drastically cut down on the sound transfer. The best decoupling methods involve using resilient sound clips which are attached to ceiling/wall joists, Metal Furring Channels are then snapped into the channels and the drywall is fastened to the channels. This system is also called a "Floating Wall/Ceiling". Gains of up to 20 STC point can be achieved by adding this system to a wall and ceiling.
